Wookey Market - Local Somerset produce and crafts at its best
Wookey Local Produce Market is being held this Saturday 17th September 2011, with the promise of a bumper autumn harvest. Cooks and gardeners will offer tasty homemade cakes, savouries and preserves.
There will be locally grown and harvested autumn fruits and vegetables, Somerset apple juice and honey. Beautiful handmade crafts and cards for all occasions will be available. Refreshments and bacon rolls will be served all morning.
Everyone is welcome to this celebration of the produce and skills of this area. The Market is held in Wookey Church Hall from 9.30am -12noon. Mosaic Tree will have a stall there and Annie and Maggie will be delighted to see you. Perfect for a bit of pre Chirstmas shopping!

Room to grow!
Mosaic Tree's range of baby hats are for new born up to 6 months. However, Annie at Mosaic Tree recently made an exception for a baby who's been modelling Mosaic Tree hats since she was born and, in fact, sported the prototype for all that are now stocked in the online shop.
This wee lass has worn and worn the hats until she's out grown them. She recently celebrated her first birthday and Annie knew that her mother would be delighted if Mosaic Tree could produce something a bit bigger.
Of course, we were more than happy to oblige (Mosaic Tree waves fairygodmother's wand on cue!) and here's what we created.....something that is such a limited edition that its not even in the shop!
We also wanted to make sure that this hat lasts for as long as possible so we introduced the 'double roll' turn up which means that mum can simply unpick the stitches securing the roll and - voila - baby's hat has magically grown by several centimetres, making both mum and baby very happy indeed!

spiral brooches - for that 'to the rescue pressie' moment
Do you ever have unexpected visitors who drop by and present you with a gift? You stand there in blind panic, desperately trying to think of something that you could give them? No, there's definiteily nothing suitable in the bag full of bric-a-brac under the stairs destined for the recycling shop. Any unopened pots of homemade jam? Nope, they were finished long ago. Running out of ideas? Well, never fear, buy one of these to pop in your top drawer so that it will there should any emergency arise?
Every spiral brooch is unique. Handknitted, edged in a contrasting colour and finished off with a button in the middle. Metal pin secured to the back.
Got a particular colour combination in mind? Please get in touch as I'd like to help!

2011 gift swap
I'm forward planning here for - gulp - Christmas! - did I really say that?!
I have several male relatives to buy for this Christmas. I thought I'd try something different this year - swapping Mosaic Tree items with other crafters' products for Christmas gifts! I'm looking for items £5-£15 and will happily swap my same price items (more than one to bring it up to the equivalent value if need be). Each person would pay for their own p&p.
Check out the photo albums at www.facebook.com/MosaicTree to get an idea of what I create - and prices (and a selection of Mosaic Tree products) are at www.folksy.com/shops/MosaicTree.
Please message me on facebook (www.facebook.com/MosaicTree) if you're interested and have some ideas for swaps (don't worry if all the possible swaps don't work out - I've got to bear in mind the personal tastes of the gift recipients). I'll keep folks posted of any swaps via Mosaic Tree blog.

time to button up!
There are some very lovely people in the world. And two of them crossed my path recently, generously giving me their vintage button collections which they felt I could utilise.
These buttons have a magical quality to them. Not only are they beautifully made from a range of materials - glass, metal, ceramics - (less of the modern day plastic), each one also comes with its own history of a garment which it has previously graced.
My role will be to upcycle these buttons so that they can add a touch of vintage character to another item handcrafted by Mosaic Tree.

Wooden beaded bracelets
These bracelets - wooden beads threaded onto craft elastic - come as a pair. Lots of scope for wearing individually or together depending on your mood, your outfit....
The perfect gift too. Buy them, pop them away in a drawer and they'll be there ready and waiting for that birthday that you nearly forgot...pop them in the post and, hey presto, problem solved.
