When you're searching around for a button to finish off your latest creation, take another look at the every day ones which you may have already cast aside.
On the top they look very traditional and not too inspiring.....
Now, here's the thing....turn them over and they are completely flat and have a slightly sparkly finish. Its a great way to recycle buttons and know that they're looking good too.
The blue one shows the difference most clearly. Do go and have a look at the reverse side of some of your buttons like these and tell me what you find.....
Step inside to find out all about Mosaic Tree, on line shop for home crafts. Created by Maggie and Annie in the west country, its full of handknitted items - hot off the needles! - baby hats, iPod/mobile/blackberry covers, knitted necklaces, spiral brooches......Find out about what makes Mosaic Tree tick, find out what we're up to, share your ideas. Welcome and enjoy!

time to button up!
There are some very lovely people in the world. And two of them crossed my path recently, generously giving me their vintage button collections which they felt I could utilise.
These buttons have a magical quality to them. Not only are they beautifully made from a range of materials - glass, metal, ceramics - (less of the modern day plastic), each one also comes with its own history of a garment which it has previously graced.
My role will be to upcycle these buttons so that they can add a touch of vintage character to another item handcrafted by Mosaic Tree.
